health and their statistical results for the year. Special
attention is given to the contractor's safety training program,
active employee involvement, evidence of management commitment and

This national Excellence Award is a great honor for each of our

NORTH CAROLINA BUILDING STAR PROGRAM
Based on Crowder Construction Company's commitment to employee
safety and health in the workplace and the comprehensive programs
that are in place, the North Carolina Department of Labor designated
Crowder a North Carolina Building STAR Company in 2002.
This is a designation awarded to companies with an outstanding
safety and health program and accident and injury statistics that
qualify to meet the NCDOL criteria. This program is administered by
the North Carolina Department of Labor, OSHA Division, and follows
the guidelines of the Federal OSHA Voluntary Protection Program.
FEDERAL OSHA VOLUNTARY PROTECTION PROGRAM
In 2008, Crowder Construction Company was
designated as a “Star Demonstration” company for the geographical area
of Georgia through the Federal OSHA Voluntary Protection Program
(VPP). Crowder was the first mobile workforce or construction company
to be recognized with this designation in all of OSHA’s Region IV
which includes: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina,
Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi. According to the OSHA
website "Approval into VPP is OSHA’s official recognition of the
outstanding efforts of employers and employees who have achieved
exemplary occupational safety and health." In August 2010,
Crowder was re-evaluated by Federal OSHA and was approved as a "Star"
company in the Federal VPP for another three years.
Crowder is honored to be recognized for our efforts in safety and
health by these respected organizations; however, more importantly, we
have made a commitment to ensure all of our employees are a strong and
vital part of our safety and health culture. We stress this through
never-ending safety and health training, our Pre-Task Planning program
implemented on every jobsite, our employee safety incentive program
“Safety Pays” and, of course, our management commitment towards
employee safety and health. After all, our most valuable assets are
our employees!
