SAFETY TRAINING
Training is a key element of any safety program. Supervisors and employees must be given the knowledge that is applied in the field to protect everyone on our job sites. Our Safety Training Program utilizes various aspects and techniques that adapt to the field training requirements. For training to be valuable and effective it must include all the aspects of learning which consists of seeing, listening, and hearing and doing. That is why all of our safety trainers receive train the trainer instruction from OSHA courses as well as other sources.
Some of the training we provide includes:
- Formal class room training for all supervisors that encompasses the requirements of the OSHA 10 hour class. This training is accomplished either by pre-scheduled dates, or performed on “rainy days” to better accommodate the job site schedules. We have several in-house training facilities that are used in these situations.
- On-site training that includes demonstrations of various classroom topics. An example is the use of a fall protection mannequin that demonstrates how a person takes a fall and proper inspection and use of fall protection equipment.
- Informal on-site training on hazard specific topics relevant to the work taking place at that particular time.
All of our supervisors are trained to provide safety meetings on a weekly basis with their crews combined with our internal Pre Task Planning program that is used daily by every crew. Weekly training is provided to every crew on topics relevant to their job. Overall, it is not only the quantity of the safety training provided, but also the quality of the safety training that makes it effective.
Our employees must be able to take what is learned in these meetings and other training and apply it to the field. |
